Navy carrier force drops to 10 in 2014, but surge ability unchanged

US Navy's 30-year shipbuilding plan shows 11 aircraft carriers in 2014, the Navy might actually have only 10 carriers for few years in the middle of the next decade. The decrease is because the Navy would schedule maintenance work on flattops to minimizing the number of carriers that are in shipyards and unavailable for duty.

The lack of a practical strategic plan at the Pentagon for developing and acquiring unmanned aerial vehicles has resulted in a wide range of problems. According to the officials of the Government Accountability Office, the problems include cost overruns, delivery delays, and duplication of effort.
