Net commerce comes of age

Article Abstract:

Internet commerce has matured considerably as evidenced by online spending of around $3 billion in the five weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day in 1998, more than triple that of 1997 figure. The popularity of Internet shopping is mainly due to higher awareness fueled by information from newspapers and other media. As online shoppers discover the added convenience of shopping through the Internet, Jupiter Communications asserts that the next step for e-commerce is to move from gaining customers to maintaining their interest.

A new test for media

Article Abstract:

Germany's central newspaper marketing association, the ZMG Zeitungs Marketing Gesellschaft, has conducted a new, systematic, comprehensive, intermedia study that it believes will set a standard for qualitative media planning. Called KONTUREN, the study focused on an analysis of six images and six functions of eight mass media types that are perceived by consumers. It used the analysis to construct an overall picture of the media personalities that these consumers hold.
