Newspapers respond to Colorado shooting

Article Abstract:

The Denver Post teamed up with MTV, TCI and the American Psychological Assn to address the increasing incidence of youth violence across the US, and also in response to the Columbine high school shooting incident. The newspaper invited 300 teenagers from the Denver area, psychologists and MTV news' Chris Connelly for a special youth forum, held at the Ascot Event Center in Littleton, CO, on Jul 19, 1999. Teenagers watched a 30- minute documentary that focused on stories on how violence affected the lives of young people.

Home run for Kansas City

Article Abstract:

Pepsi-Cola teamed up with the Kansas City Star newspaper when the soft drink company launched its Pepsi One promotion before the 1998 World Series. Kansas City Star relied on its Star Precision Delivery system in distributing 12-ounce cans of Pepsi One as well as a discount coupon to 60,000 Kansas City residents. The newspaper engaged the services of 159 carriers to deliver the Pepsi One cans over a two-day period that coincided with commercial being aired during the World Series.
