Article Abstract:
The Swedish pulp and paper industry has been affected by price volatility and overcapacity, and has not performed well on the stock market. Meanwhile, Investor has been criticized for its slow progress toward new economy stocks. Ericsson has improved its performance since Jul 1999 when the chief executive was replaced following a drop in interim profit. Volvo planned to acquire Scania but was prevented from doing so by the European Commission, and Volkswagen has acquired a stake in Scania and could acquire Volvo's stake in that company.
