Northrop profits jump 31 percent, edging out competition

Northrop Grumman Corp, the third-largest defense contractor reported a good financial result during the first quarter of the year 2004. Their profits rose to 31 percent, which is $228 million in the first quarter as compared to that of $174 million in the first quarter of 2003.

Defense contractors Northrop Grumman Corp. and United Technologies Corp. reported high profits for all the quarters of 2005. The reports are in the wake of Pentagon's spending continuing to set new records even though not in same procurement program.
