Official: FCS to be 'far more survivable' than current platforms

Article Abstract:

A top program official has stated that the manned vehicles that are to be a part of the Army's top modernization project, Future Combat System (FCS) program, will be more survivable than those in present day's force. The FCS program is comprised of manned and unmanned ground, aerial vehicles, sensors and other components all linked together via an advanced network.

FCS faces critical milestones in 2006: Program leader

Article Abstract:

The massive Future Combat Systems (FCS) would have to face many reviews and myriad milestones in 2006, making 2006 an important year for the cutting-edge Army modernization initiative. Partnered with Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), Boeing Co. is overseeing the FCS program for the Army in a role known as the Lead Systems Integrator (LSI).

Analyst: FCS good news, bad news

Article Abstract:

A well-known US defense analyst proclaimed Boeing Co.'s efforts in managing development of the Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) program. He reported that the weight issues regarding the planned FCS manned ground vehicles would continue to be a liability for the program and would delay and detach them from the work on the FCS network.
