Oil issues...Insiders may be betting on long-term Mideast picture

Article Abstract:

Investors in oil and gas stocks, especially insiders, could be wrong in brushing aside the potential impact of recent events in Iraq. Largely due to the crushing defeat of the country in the 1990 Gulf War, investors have adopted the mindset of looking at Iraq as a weakened and insignificant force in the Middle East. However, with the resurgence of Islamic fundamentalism in the Arab word, there is a growing danger that Iraq could become the rallying point for the region's religious radicals.

Why follow insider sales?

Article Abstract:

CDA-Investnet Insiders' Chronicle has been criticized for focusing on insider sales when several issues, such as the buy side of insider trading, merit similar attention. The publication's aim in highlighting insider selling is to provide investors with a report of which stocks have the highest downside risk. It also wants investors to see which stocks show significant selling among insiders so they can assess the implications of such persistent insider selling on investments.
