Olfactory sensor array systems: the electronic nose
Article Abstract:
The human olfactory system is not well understood, although it is known it has several deficiencies. By analysing the mechanism associated with the sense of smell it has been possible to make electronic and chemical versions of the human nose, known as olfactory sensory array systems. An overview of the new electronic nose technology is presented, plus a description of an electronic nose developed by GEC-Marconi Materials Technology Ltd.'s Hirst Division.

Low-fat diets make people feel they are doing the right thing for good health. Yet according to a report from the American Medical Assn, the number of overweight adults is increasing. Many people blame this not on low-fat diets, but on their own weakness in not being faithful to the diets.

Urban delight
Article Abstract:
The problems of raising children in big cities are well known, but urban life offers advantages that rural and suburban children do not have. City kids are exposed to a broader range of cultural values and grow up with a savvy other children do not have.
