Article Abstract:

Companies are increasingly outsourcing their business processes to gain a competitive advantage. It is believed that management can concentrate on exploring strategic opportunities for the company if the responsibility for the organization's accounting, treasury, tax compliance and other back office functions is turned over to professional service providers, which can offer the necessary expertise and technology. A PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) survey of 300 Fortune 500 companies indicates how popular business process outsourcing (BPO) has become. The results show that 63% have already sourced out at least one business function, and that 84% of their directors were satisfied with the arrangement. The growing popularity of BPO has prompted several leading accounting firms to enter the business.
