Osprey to begin tests of software, hardware to curb yawing
Article Abstract:
The flight-testing of the newly reworked version of the V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft with a software fix for computer systems and hardware changes to curb uncommanded yawing motions will begin flight-testing that should be completed by the end of April 2004. The Defense Acquisition Board (DAB) will review the program after completion of flight-testing and provide guidance on the production cycle and production rate especially to ensure that the issues that caused the grounding of the aircraft in 2000, especially the potential to enter Vortex Ring State (VRS), are resolved while other challenges ahead include shipboard tests of the V-22 stability.

Osprey, after acing test flights, cleared for OpEval
Article Abstract:
The V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, after undergoing significant redesigns and almost three years of test flights, is set for an operational evaluation (OPEVAL). According to the Osprey manufacturer, program executive officer for the program, Tom Laux, certified that the half-airplane, half-helicopter hybrid aircraft is ready for operational test and evaluation.
