Patience is a virtue

Article Abstract:

Investors using index tracking funds face problems in a bear market, and may not be able to withdraw their assets in time to prevent a loss of value. Stock markets tend to recover after prices fall, and the rise higher than before, so investors who have not sold may be best advised to wait for n upturn. New investors can drip feed to benefit from drops in stock prices, or buy into investment trusts where wide discounts can offer value. Active funds may perform better than themarket as a whole, but there is no guarantee that this will be the case.
