Commercial interest grows in glycan analysis

Article Abstract:

A new high-throughput method for automated, quantitative analysis of N-linked sugar structure attached to proteins developed by a group based at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, generated commercial interest indicating a growing industry-wide focus on glycan analysis. It promises to promote the discovery of new disease biomarkers and optimize the production of glycosylated therapeutic proteins.

Gene therapies have provided positive clinical data in Parkinson's and ischemia. Introgen Therapeutics is planning to file a biologics license application for its P53-based adenoviral therapy for head and neck cancer in the U.S. and in Europe.
