The real estate industry in Tyne and Wear, England, has recovered during the 1990s following problems which began in the 1970s. The waterfront area of Newcastel has benefited from two investments, the Newcastle Business Park, sponsored by Tyne and Wear Urban Development Corp, and the Quayside scheme of Amec Development. Planning policies are likely to affect the market for industrial real estate. The retail industry of the north east of England has always shown a strong performance.

Northern Lights: Rochdale transformed

Article Abstract:

Rochdale, England, has good transportation links which has helped the development of distribution activity and helped to revitalize the region. Rochdale is located on the M62 corridor and the Heywood Distribution Park benefited from this link though needed modernization. The park was acquired by Burford Group in 1992. Warehousing pushes up the cost of land for manufacturing companies and this could have a harmful impact on employment.
