Public and Private Sector Pay: A Partly Disaggregated Study
Article Abstract:
Earnings inflation in the public and private sector are compared in a disaggregated regression analysis. Interaction between sectors must be considered. Public corporations appear to lead in wage inflation. Wage inertia is due in part to lagged effects from other sectors. A levels effect due to hierarchy is observed in the government sector.
