Taking control

Article Abstract:

Per capita state pension provision is set to drop in the United Kingdom, and there is a need for those in work to save for their retirement. Personal pensions are useful for people for whom an employer's pension is not available. A new Stakeholder Pension system is to be launched, but it would be dangerous to wait until this appears, since delays mean that higher contributions have to be made to a pension scheme. A pension scheme should be flexible and allow for transfers without penalties.
