Quality Circle Experience in a Comptroller Organization

Article Abstract:

Quality circle impact on the McClellan Air Force Base (AFB) was notable. Productivity problems at McClellan were associated with a dirth of human involvement in the problem-solution progress. Upper and mid-level management received a briefing on quality control, a facilitation was chosen, and a twenty question interview was developed and given in one hour to various employees of pay units. The questionnaire identified more than one hundred productivity inhibitors. These were categorized as training, document pressing, customer service corporations, work unit processes and physical environment. Findings of quality circles in the military pay and travel section indicated that desk techniques should be developed to facilitate trainer time, and error charts should provide feedback.

Article Abstract:

General data is presented pertinent to enlisters of the Cost and Management Analysis. Priorities for overseas requirements include: consecutive tour volunteers, volunteers for extended tours, volunteers for standard tours, and non-volunteers. Odds of choice assignments are featured. Outstanding duty performance is always a plus. Minimum time on station (TOS) in overseas duty is twelve months for volunteers, and twice that for non- volunteers. Non-volunteer selection criterion are analyzed.
