Market segmentation by cohorts: the value and validity of cohorts in America and abroad

Article Abstract:

Cohorts are a useful segmentation tool, according to research investigating cohorts as a segmentation technique, highlighting what is already known and not known about US cohorts. A number of studies indicate the correctness and significance of cohorts as motivators of human behaviour. It is suggested that segmenting consumers by cohorts may be a better segmentation technique than currently used. A cohort analysis can offer a sense of familiarity and personal appeal to increasingly knowledgeable consumers.
