The Legal Services Bill allows for multi-disciplinary practices (MPDs) through a mechanism called Alternative Business Structures (ABSs). However, it does not distinguish between non-professional services and those of professionals such as lawyers and chartered accountants.

The Auditing Practices Board tested the auditing of 20 companies that used the independent professional review. Several problems were discovered, including fraud. Outside auditors made fewer mistakes than those prepared in-house.
