Rep. Hunter hints military should retain control of intel assets

Rep. Ducan Hunter (R-California), chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, warned that it is important that lawmakers establishing a new over-arching intelligence position not create problems for combatants in the field. He also stressed upon the need for the war fighters to receive the intelligence they need, when they need it and the military forces must be assured of using all the intelligence assets of the United States.

The Army Chief of Staff Gen. Peter Schoomaker brought out a complex chart that showed all the changes to the service's Future Combat System program (FCS) at a house armed services committee hearing on Army transformation. The FCS however is an ambitious Army program mainly planning to develop an array of next generation weapons, vehicles and sensors linked by a secure digital network.
