Ferraris has a strong medical and components division and this is not apparent from the company's interim results to Feb 1998. The company's engineering operation in eastern Germany is also performing well. Warren E. Collins, a US acquisition, could help the company to market its products directly in the US. The German actuators operation is also performing well in the US. Ferraris' profit is forecast at 2.3 million pounds sterling for 1997 to 1998 by Henderson Crosthwaite.

Graseby has acquired 3MIT from 3M, which gives the company a sales force in the US that can sell Graseby products such as ambulatory pumps. 3MIT is involved in delivery syringe pumps. Graseby's environmental division has reduced its costs and increased its profit, as has the technology division. The company's profit is forecast at 93 million pounds sterling by brokers for full year 1996 compared with 6 million pounds for the previous year.
