Minimum response
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom Pensions Act of 1997 brought in the minimum funding requirement (MFR), altering the way that final salary pension funds are valued. Pension funds were also affected by the abolition of dividend tax credits, and by a drop in British long bond yields which has affected returns for pension funds. The legislation has meant that pension funds have become more risk averse and take a shorter term perspective, which means that bonds have been favored.
