Article Abstract:
New technological devices such as ISDN, ATM and FDDI are revolutionizing telecollaboration in design studios but the studios should analyze these systems and select a technology that is best suited to them. A industrial design studio in Massachusetts uses a device known as Polycom Sound Station for audioconferencing. Instruments such as the Integrated Services Digital Network, which is cost efficient, helps to send sound files and graphic files over a high-speed phone line between computers at a fast pace. Systems such as Communique and InPerson help to contact with all the members of the studio and discuss the design on the screen itself.

A fantasy island emerges in Seville
Article Abstract:
Expo '92 will be held in Seville, Spain between Apr and Oct 1992. More than 100 pavilions will be constructed in a 535-acre site on Cartuja Island and will showcase the latest developments in industrial design from several participating countries. Expo '92 is intended to coincide with the Olympic Games in Barcelona, the European City of Culture festival in Madrid and the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Columbus' voyage to the New World. While most participating countries have made elaborate and lavish preparations for their respective pavilions, the US has opted for a more modest presentation due to financial constraints.
