Secrets of a successful 'superwoman.' (Gill Joynson-Hicks, chartered accountant, director of Edmund Schluter coffee merchants, and proprietress of a conference center)

Article Abstract:

Gill Joynson-Hicks, a chartered accountant in Britain and one of the directors of the Edmund Shluter coffee merchants firm, is profiled. Joynson-Hicks, also known as the Viscountess Brentford, is a member of the family that owns Edmund Shluter, a marketer of African coffee, and was born in Africa. She has recently converted the family home, a part-Tudor and part-Georgian mansion on 240 acres of Sussex land, into a conference center and holiday retreat. The conference center is still known as Newick Park and its management firm, known as Newick Park Enterprises, with its staff of six live-in employees is managed by Joynson-Hicks.

Richard Werth, Finance Director, Banner Homes Group PLC: waiting to make Banner headlines

Article Abstract:

Banner Homes Group PLC (High Wycombe, England) has diversified from the building of residential homes into the commercial property market. The diversification into the commercial property market has insulated the firm from the negative effects of the recent recession, which has hit the residential property market hard. The firm has moved from the lower end of the residential housing market to the middle market and has cut its house building in half. Group Finance Director Richard Werth states that the firm will concentrate on organic growth and diversifying geographically across the UK.

Making a business out of brothers

Article Abstract:

Rashmi, Satish, and Jay Chatwani run their hotel and investment empire Kanta Enterprises like a family. The three brothers treat their staff like family members and make all their customers feel at home. The philosophy has yielded handsome dividends. Kanta has grown into a multi million pound sterling leisure investment group with sales tripled to 10 million pound sterling in five years. The Chatwanis' latest acquisition is a successful builders merchants, F Copson PLC, which they plan to use as a vehicle to acquire more hotels, nursing homes and retirement homes.
