Set for a London lift-off
Article Abstract:
Ryanair plans a listing in London, England, in Jul 1998. The airline is based in Dublin, Ireland, where it has a listing. Some funds specialising in smaller companies are interested in investing in Ryanair but are deterred by its Irish listing. The company aims to fund new aircraft from the listing and is expanding using a base at Stanstead airport, England, where Ryanair is the biggest single scheduled carrier. Go, a low-cost subsidiary of British Airways, is not seen as a threat by Ryanair.

Rescue in prospect for BA's US buddy
Article Abstract:
USAir is involved in talks with American Airlines and United Airlines, one of which may acquire the company. USAir has a 24% stake held by British Airways. An acquisition would involved an agreement with labor unions at US Air and such an agreement has been difficult for USAir's management to achieve so talks may take some time. British Airways may benefit by being able to recover losses, and British Airways' shares rose on news of the talks.
