Shiseido opens flagship store in New York City

Shiseido America has opened its world flagship store called 5S in New York City, NY. 5S provides a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where women could test their different products, numbering to 215, available in the store. The concept, which is called friendship marketing by the company, provides an atmosphere where women could exchange ideas and information. The store is dotted with a several tables carrying one product line each such as five Shades color makeup line, Basic Skincare and Reinforcement products in tester units. Other features include mingle tables that provides access to the 5S website on the built-in PCs on them.

Trish McEvoy has created a brand identity for her line of cosmetics products with the help of Seattle, WA-based Callison Architecture. The goal was for the cosmetics line to be distinct from other brands in a cosmetics section of a department store. This concept was portrayed through the use of custom casework, furniture and merchandising concepts that depicted intimacy in a residential-like setting.
