Brisk will manufacture plugs for Lada cars

Brisk (Tabor, Czech Republic), automotive sparking plug manufacturer, has been awarded a long-term contract on the supply of plugs for the automotive firm Lada Togliatti (Russia). Lada produces about 770,000 cars per year. In 2000 Brisk built a plant in Ozersk, Russia. It transferred a part of its production to the plant. Brisk has about 70 employees and produced nearly 9 mil plugs at the plant in 2000. The plant should produce 12 mil plugs in 2001. Brisk has a 20% share on the Russian spare sparking plug market. It produced a total of 30 mil automotive sparking plugs in 2000. Brisk is one of the 10 largest global firms in its field. It exports 80% of its production to 60 countries. The firm saw a gross profit of CEK 4 mil under proceeds of CEK 530 mil in 2000. In the Czech Republic, Brisk has 800 employees. Besides automotive sparking plugs, the firm manufactures industrial ceramics, speed catchers and diagnostic devices.

Autopal decreased its profit in 2000

Article Abstract:

Autopal (Novy Jicin, Czech Republic), automotive component manufacturer, increased its proceeds by 8% to CEK 6.578 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. The firm expects its profit to decrease for 2000 compared to 1999, when it saw a net profit of CEK 321.5 mil. Reasons for the drop were exchange rate influences. The firm manufactures automotive lighting and air conditioning components. It supplies the products to the automotive companies Ford, Skoda Auto, Jaguar, Fiat, Aston Martin, VW, Tatra and Karosa.
