Morgan Stanley Dean Witter's Barton Biggs argues that investors could be hit by a shock in US financial markets. This comment has led some investors world wide to become nervous. UK markets have been affected by a possible end to dividend tax credit in Jul 1997. UK stocks appear to be fairly valued in relation to government securities. UK interest rates could rise to as much as 8% and this could lead to a loss of confidence among investors.
