The 'right' size in nanobiotechnology

Article Abstract:

Nanotechnology offers biology new tools and that biology offers nanotechnology access to new types of functional nanosystems that are interesting and useful. The physical sciences offer tools for synthesis and fabrication of devices for measuring the characteristics of cells and sub-cellular components and of materials useful in cell and molecular biology.

Statistical pattern matching facilitates the design of polyvalent inhibitors of anthrax and cholera toxins

Article Abstract:

The statistical pattern matching increases the potency of polyvalent therapeutics and the pattern-matched polyvalent liposomes have inhibited anthrax toxin in vitro at concentrations four orders of magnitude lower than the corresponding monovalent peptide and neutralized this toxin in vivo. The statistical pattern also enhances the potency of polyvalent inhibitors of cholera toxins and it is broadly applicable to the detection and neutralization of toxins and pathogens.
