Suez

Article Abstract:

Suez has been affected by bad debts from real estate loans which have led to write-downs and a loss for 1995. Banque Indosuez' operating income also dropped in that year due to weakness in European economies and foreign exchange movements. Societe Generale de Belgique reported an increase in profit, and Sofinco, a consumer credit concern, also performed well in 1995. The company is carrying out a recovery plan under Gerard Mestrallet, the new chairman.
