Tax: Going flat out

Article Abstract:

Adam Smith Institute, with a view to simplify the complexities in UK tax system, has proposed a simple flat rate system under which all the income up to 12,000 pounds would be tax-free and all income after that would be taxed at 22%. Advocates for the new system emphasize that it would be fairer, cheaper to administer, and would provide stimulus to the economic growth while those opposing the flat rate system believe it would lead to fall of 10% in the all tax revenue.

The Olympics continues to offer a unique package as there is no other event that charges its sponsors around $10m a year and then refuses to allow advertising inside the stadium for most of them. Only ICT and time-keeping sponsors are allowed their names displayed inside the stadium, as Olympics retains an ambivalent attitude towards corporate sponsorship.
