The accounting workplace: a joyless future?

Article Abstract:

A second industrial revolution based on technology and new management techniques has changed the professional environment for working accountants. One way of adapting to the new environment is to reeducate the entire population of accounting professionals, but a more likely scenario is that accounting work will be divided between a large group of deskilled professionals and a small group of reskilled professionals.

Computer integration in accounting education: guidelines and pitfalls

Article Abstract:

Scores on examinations were lower when computers were used during a cost accounting course. While students supported the use of computers, they attributed their lower scores to a lack of time allotted to completing the project. If teachers are going to encourage the use of computers for projects, they must be aware of time constraints.

Accounting for postmodernism: State Bank bunkum and the three billion dollar blowout

Article Abstract:

The abuse of language played a role in the collapse of the State Bank of South Australia in the 1980s. Reports sent to state bank officials were written in overly optimistic corporate jargon that painted a false picture of the truth. Three billion dollars were lost in the collapse.
