The challenge of change

Article Abstract:

The Big Six accounting firm called KPMG is in the midst of a major organizational change that aims to transform its audit processes and methodologies. Management realized that the traditional auditing approach favored by the company was no longer relevant to its client and so sought to transform its role from being a mere auditor to an adviser. It identified six core competencies that partners, senior partners and new recruits have to master: client responsiveness, business skills, management skills, personal effectiveness, social skills and thinking skills. The company studied other change management initiatives and hired expert consultants to ensure the success of its own program. The change effort also involves effective leadership and internal and external communication.
