The dawn of interactivity

Article Abstract:

There are indications of a shift towards interactive online dealing in personal equity plans (Peps) and unit trusts in the UK. Fidelity Investments has launched the Fidelity WebXpress internet service, which allows investors to place transaction orders to redeem shares or move between funds. Investors can also gain access via the internet to netPEP, an internet-based Pep plan. Investors can obtain a wide range of information about this plan, and there is also an online magazine looking at issues such as tracker funds and investment trends.

Sunny money has offshore allure

Article Abstract:

Offshore deposit accounts can offer better rates than onshore accounts for United Kingdom investors. The same bank or building society may offer similar accounts with higher offshore rates, though this is not always the case. Interest rates are not the only attractions of offshore investments, since they also bring tax advantages. Interest is paid gross and can be rolled over. Investors need a larger minimum sum to open an offshore account.
