Issues concerning team self-management are discussed. It is concluded that the way a manager becomes involved in a team must be adjusted to meet the requirements of the team at each phase of its development.

Article Abstract:

Many companies have resorted to self-managed work teams, which refer to groups of highly trained, self-directed workers who can take the responsibility in the completion of assigned works, in their attempt to create consistently improving organizations. A template for establishing a self-managed work team in a manufacturing environment, which could also be used in other industries, is presented.
