Marketing information and decision support systems for services

Article Abstract:

An information management system greatly enhances the marketing of services. For instance, it reinforces customer relations and responsiveness, helps in the design of new services and stores important company data that can aid evaluation of past operations. Such a system should include a strong database, a store of statistical and optimization models and a flexible but user-friendly interface. Installation costs range from $10,000 to $400,000, depending on the system type. The effectiveness of such systems seem to have been beneficial to many firms.

The effect of perceived quality and name familiarity on the service selection decision

Article Abstract:

The 1990s has been characterized by increased attention to quality as an important aspect of business. However, although there is ample literature on the attainment and evaluation of product quality, methods applied to products may not be suitable for services. In addition, research on service quality has generally focused on its conceptual nature and its measurement. The effect of perceived service quality, name familiarity, and price on consumers' decision to select particular services are studied.
