Willis Corroon: future shock?
Article Abstract:
Willis Corroon is a UK insurance broker which faces softening reinsurance and commercial rates due to capital from N America competing for business. The company has made provisions amounting to 16.6 million pounds sterling, most of which is to cover lease obligations where they are greater than the amount that real estate can be sublet for. The company's share price has been aided by bid speculation, but an acquisition is not likely until the lowest point of the cycle appears to have been reached.

Lowndes Lambert
Article Abstract:
Lowndes Lambert has reported a rise in costs which have outpaced the company's increased revenue due to buying in more teams and individuals. The company has three insurance broking divisions, international, non-marine and marine, and has faced soft rates in all three of these. Pressure on the company's expenses is likely to persist in 1996 and rates are still falling. A profit of 14 million pounds sterling is forecast for 1996 to 1997 by the market.
