Window on the world of investment

Article Abstract:

Investment software has benefited from the introduction of Windows which has made commands simpler to use and has improved graphics. Packages previously tended to be difficult to use with low-level graphics. A large number of packages are available in the UK for under 250 pounds sterling and one such package is Windows on Wall Street. This gives comprehensive charting facilities and includes trading systems. New investors who are restricted in terms of their budget would benefit from using this software.

Portfolio management made easy: investment software packages may not be available in the high street but that doesn't mean they are only for 'techies' or ridiculously expensive. Thee are in fact programs to suit all levels of users and all pockets

Article Abstract:

There is a wider variety of chart based software geared towards the private investors with prices beginning at under 50 pounds sterling, rising to 1,000 pounds sterling. There is also the cost of acquiring data and peripheral costs relating to teletex downloading. Purchasers need to rely on press reports, direct mail and advertising to decide which package offers the best value, as most technical analysis applications are not available over the counter.

The tools of the trade

Article Abstract:

Software is a useful tool for understanding the options market. Option pricing software can assess underlying values as distinct from market values of options, and volatility levels. Software can also help investors develop trading strategies. The sensitivity of prices for options to changes in underlying share prices can also be calculated, as can profit and loss levels at different share prices during the life of a particular option.
