YTL Power enters strategic alliance
Article Abstract:
The eager to expand Malaysian company, YTL Power International, has entered into a strategic alliance with the Hong Kong-based CLP Power International. Beneficial for both companies, the move provides CLP with access to YTL's contacts and allows the two companies to share their experience. The alliance also gives YTL evidence of the foreign capital it needs in order to be eligible for purchasing the assets of fellow Malaysian power company, Tenaga Nasional.

Developing a power partnership
Article Abstract:
The Philippines, like many Asian nations, suffers from a deficit in power production, with demand far outstripping supply due to economic growth. To encourage the development of the power generation industry, the Philippines enacted legislation allowing National Power Corp. (NPC), the state-owned monopoly, to seek private and foreign investment. NPC also is being privatized.
