Young at heart of business

Article Abstract:

Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) was established for the purpose of training Scottish teenagers with management skills. Since 1986, when it became a separate division of the UK-wide Young Enterprise, the number of participants has considerably risen from 21 to 253 in1992. Each academic year usually starts with the development of companies by the young trainees who are assisted by advisers and business kits. These consultants help in such activities as business formation and registration, product conception, and election of officers for the first three weeks of operation. At the end of the course, the students are given certificates of participation. Sponsored by major organizations in both private and public sectors, the merits of YES have increasingly been valued in Scotland. It has been most helpful in providing teenagers with actual business experiences involving production, sales, personnel management and business supervision.

It's still negotiable

Article Abstract:

Small amd medium-sized businesses with limited financial and management resources often fear that they could not comply with strict environmental standards and face possible prosecution for environmental liabilities. These firms must not panic and instead concentrate on setting issues in their proper perspective. Companies can make an internal review of their production processes and eliminate or decrease environmentally damaging agents before hiring costly environmental consultants. If the problem is rooted in management, the firm could hire an environmental manager to organize waste handling and disposal. Companies with environmental control programs in place will be given due consideration by authorities. However, these companies must set a timetable within which they would comply with environmental requirements.
