Senior prerecruiting survey answers many questions
Article Abstract:
Annual job surveys made by the University of North Carolina's Career Planning and Placement Services show that 65%-70% of graduates may take jobs in North Carolina because of opportunities gained through networking. However, 43% of respondents expressed no geographical restrictions to jobs that they may accept. Two thirds of the students surveyed have two or three job options. Sixty five percent of the students also expressed plans to attend graduate or professional school. The results of the survey are vital to career service professionals in providing a link between the students and employers.

Providing minority students with the competitive edge
Article Abstract:
Minority students at the University of North Carolina used to take for granted the services offered to them by the school's career placement office. Hence, the university's career services authorities launched the Competitive Edge program financed by the Prudential Foundation to encourage the participation of minority students in activities and services that pertain to their future employment. The Competitive Edge program is composed of eight projects, which include a survey to determine if race and gender differences have an effect on freshmen students' career aspirations.
