51V ESE-ENDOR studies of oxovanadium(IV) complexes: investigation of the nuclear quadrupole interaction

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine a structurally diverse series of oxovanadiium(IV) complexes using the technique of 51V electron spin echo-electron nuclear double resonance. 51V nuclear quadrupole coupling constants were calculated by a perturbation theory method. Results demonstrate that the nuclear quadrupole coupling constant is sensitive to ligands binding trans to the oxygen of the oxo bond.

Pulsed EPR/ENDOR characterization of the Cu2+ surface site in photosynthetic bacterial reaction centers

Article Abstract:

Analogous structural features are observed for the Cu2+ surface site involved in modulating QA-1QB->QAQB-1 electron transfer in RCs from Rb. sphaeroides, Rb. capsulatus, and Blc. viridis. The findings indicate that Cu2+ has a different coordination environment from the crystallographically characterized Zn2+ and Cd2+ surface sites in Rb. sphaeroides RCs.
