A study of the mechanism of the electrochemical reaction of lithium with CoO by two-dimensional soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy (2D XAS), 2D Raman, and 2D heterospectral XAS-Raman correlation analysis

Article Abstract:

A two-dimensional (2D) correlation analysis is applied to the spectra of the Li(sub y)CoO system during the first insertion-extraction reaction as obtained by lithium concentration-dependent x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and Raman spectroscopy. 2D XAS and 2D Raman spectra yield great resolution enhancement and show that the insertion of lithium into the CoO electrode leads to Li2O formation.

Interference effects of multiple excited states in the resonance Raman spectroscopy of CpCoCOD

Article Abstract:

The resonance Raman excitation profiles of cyclopentadienylcobalt cyclooctadiene, CpCoCOD contain pronounced decreases in intensity in the region of the lowest energy ligand field absorption band. This deenhancement is caused by interference between the ligand field state and nearby metal to ligand charge-transfer states.

Dimensional control of cobalt-hydroxide-carbonate nanorods and their thermal conversion to one-dimensional arrays of Co3O4 nanoparticles

Article Abstract:

A detailed study on the formation of cobalt-basic-carbonate compounds [Co(OH)x-(CO3)0.5(2-x).nH2O] with dimensional and morphological controls using two complementary precipitation methods is reported. Results reveal that Co3O4 nanorods can be synthesized with this method in a small diameter regime of 20-40 nm.
