AUSTRIA/GERMANY: SANOCHEMIA, BIOGLAN JOIN FORCES

Sanochemia Pharmazeutika of Vienna has acquired 50% of the stock of German Zusmarshausen-based Goldham Bioglan Pharma GmbH. The Austrian company thus gets the marketing rights to all existing contrast media of Bioglan and those under development as well as the German company's production plant. Goldham Bioglan Pharma, which produces mainly X-ray and other contrast media and develops value-added generics, generated a turnover of DM 7.6mn in 1998. In the 9 months of the 1998/99 fiscal year Sanochemia made a loss on ordinary activities of Sch 28.89mn on a turnover of Sch 30.78mn. It is going public in Frankfurt in order to raise funds.

NETHERLANDS: PARKER HANNIFIN BUYS NYLAFLOW

Parker Hannifin Corp of Cleveland, Ohio, is taking over Nylaflow Europe of Almelo, Netherlands, from DSM Engineering Plastic Products. Nylaflow, a producer of thermoplastic hoses and pipes, is to be integrated with the Polyflex division of Parker Hannifin, a leading equipment and component producer in the US. Nylaflow, which employs about 75 staff, generates an annual turnover of Fl 20mn. DSM Engineering Plastic Products, which has an annual turnover of Fl 500mn, is to concentrate on its core businesses of solid boards, pipes and profiles.
