Abatement of an azo dye on structured C-Nafion/Fe-ion surfaces by photo-Fenton reactions leading to carboxylate intermediates with a remarkable biodegradability increase of the treated solution
Article Abstract:
C-Nafion/Fe-ion fabric is presented as a composite material being applied for the first time as a stable immobilized catalyst decomposing Orange II by Fenton photo-assisted reactions. A detailed characterization of the surface parameters of the C-Nafion/Fe-ion fabric is worked out through X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and BET techniques.

Discoloration of azo-dyes at biocompatible pH-values through an Fe-histidine complex immobilized on nafion via Fenton-like processes
Article Abstract:
The pH range of Fe-loaded nation in the orange II discoloration is extended up to 10.2 through the development of an innovative catalyst of Fe/histidine prepared in sity on the Nafion. This avoids the expensive initial pH adjustment in Fenton homogenous reactions. The Fe/histidine/nafion membrane is observed to be resistant to oxidative radical attack by the radicals generated in solutions up to 30 mm H2O2 at acid, neutral, and basic pH values (10.2).
