Photochemistry of methanol and methoxy groups adsorbed on powdered TiO2
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the photochemistry of CH3OH and CH3O adsorbed on TiO2 and the influence of O2. Infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry were performed to carry out the analysis. A mechanism is proposed to explain differences in CH3O depletion during ultraviolet radiation. Results indicated that the photoreaction rate is hindered by electron-hole recombination for prolonged ultraviolet radiation.

Picosecond photoluminescence study of the n-GaAs(100)/methanol interface in a photoelectrochemical cell
Article Abstract:
Research is presented describing the use of picosecond photoluminescence to examine the n-GaAs(100)/methanol interface. The study illustrates important differences in the behaviour of corroded aqueous cells from the behaviour of corroded methanol cells.
