DuPont Agricultural Products of Wilmington, Delaware's corporate SVP and head of agricultural enterprises, William F. Kirk, believes that the key to DuPont's growth will lie in the partnerships it develops in the future. According to Kirk, the company is implementing a policy of including the most number of partners in its ventures to hasten change and add value to the distribution chain. While emphasizing the importance of alliances, Kirk also says that the company does not intend to control its partners.

However, the Internet also provides a formidable infrastructure for activists to wage a broadbased, easy, silent, public relations battle against biotech-based agriculture. Anti-biotechnology forces can easily organize consumer discontent and launch electronic mail opposition campaigns targeting multinationl food firms using the Internet World Wide Web.

Article Abstract:

The American Crop Protection Assn (ACPA) intends to make financial investments on programs that will inform the American public on the benefits of science-based agriculture. The ACPA is particularly interested in addressing public concerns about children's health, the promotion of sound science and the implementation of the Food Quality Protection Act. The trade association is also investing $50 million in the Council for Biotechnology Information program.
