An EXAFS study of nanocrystalline yttrium stabilized cubic zirconia films and pure zirconia powders

Article Abstract:

Detailed EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy) measurements for two nanocrystalline forms of zirconia, namely, dense films of yttria-stabilized cubic zirconia (YSZ) and tetragonal phase powders of pure ZrO2.Zr and Y K edge EXAFS spectra for the YSZ films with grain sizes of 6,15, and 240 nm are collected. It is proved that the nanocrystalline films exhibit similar levels of disorder to that of large crystal.

Quantification of chemical pressure in doped nanostructured zirconia ceramics

Article Abstract:

An investigation on the influence of the substitution of Zr(super 4+) by oversized rare-earth R (super 3+) (R congruent to Sc, Yb, Y, Gd, Sm) was carried out in nanocrystalline tetragonal R(sub 2)O(sub 3)-doped zirconia (ZrO2) ceramics. Quantification of internal pressure was performed from frequency shifts of Raman spectra and from compressibility data from XRD.

An IR, FR, and TPD study on the acidity of H-ZSM-5, sulfated zirconia, and sulfated zirconia-titania using ammonia as the probe molecule

Article Abstract:

Infrared and frequency-response spectra of zeolite were recorded under 133 Pa of NH3 pressure in the temperature range 293-673 K. It is shown that ion-pair complexes comprising the conjugated base sites of the solid Bronsted acid and H-bonded [NH4.nNH3](super +) associations are formed.
