An extended in situ Cu-K XAFS and XRD study on the site preference and valence of copper ions in (Mg1-xCux)O
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the site preference and valence of copper ions in copper-dopped magnesium oxide. Using the combined methods of extended X-ray absorption fine structure and X-ray absorption near edge structure, it was revealed that the solubility of copper in copper-dopped magnesium oxide is weakened when oxygen activity decreases. It was also observed that with a temperature range of T + 293-1376 K, the site preference and formal valence of copper in copper-dopped magnetic oxide persists even when environmental parameters are changed.

Fabrication and characterization of CdS-nanoparticle mono- and multilayers on a self-assembled monolayer of alkanedithiols on gold
Article Abstract:
The synthesis and structural characterization of mono- and multilayers of cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles on a gold substrate were investigated. CdS-nanoparticle mono- and multilayers were fabricated by an alternate immersion of the substrate into ethanolic solutions of dithiol. A layer-by-layer structure of dithiol self-assembled and cadmium sulfide monolayers was confirmed with the aid of Fourier transform infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy at each stage of fabrication of the composite film.
