Analytical electron microscopy studies of lithium aluminum hydrides with ti-and V-based additives

Article Abstract:

The microstructure of LiAID4 with TiCl3.1/3(AlCl3) and VCl3 additives is studied during different steps of the decomposition process using electron energy loss spectroscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy in a scanning transmission electron microscope. The results showed that the distribution of the Al in all the particles anticorrelates with the positions of the additives after ball milling.

Oxidation and melting of aluminum nanopowders

Article Abstract:

The melting and oxidation behavior of nanosized aluminum powders are investigated. It was found that the observed oxidation behavior was well interpreted considering the established kinectics of oxidation of micronsized aluminum powders and there was no correlation between the melting and oxidation of aluminum nanopowders.

Molecular aluminum hydrides identified by inelastic neutron scattering during H2 regeneration of catalyst-doped NaAlH4

Article Abstract:

Catalyst-doped sodium aluminum hydrides are intensively studied as solid hydrogen carriers for onboard proton-exchange membrane fuel cells. Computational modeling of the inelastic neutron scattering spectra suggested the formation of AlH3 and oligomers, which are pertinent to the mechanism of hydrogen storage.
