Anomalous temperature dependence of domain shape in Langmuir monolayers: Role of dipolar interaction

Article Abstract:

Brewster angle microscopy is used to observe anomalous temperature dependence in the shape of the condensed phase domains in Langmuir monolayer of amphiphilic monoglycerolether. The findings reveal that the azimuthal orientation off the molecule enhances the regular arrangement of in-plane dipole moment at lower temperatures, which dictates the anomalous shape transition.

Unconventional air-stable interdigitated formed by 2,3-disubstituted fatty acid methyl esters

Article Abstract:

An unconventional air-stable interdigitated bilayer formed at the air-water interface by a single-chain fatty acid methyl ester, racemic anti-3-fluro-2-hydroxyeicosanoic acid methyl ester is reported. The interdigitated bilayer transferred onto solid substrate by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique keeps air-stable without any substrate modification or protein inclusion.

Structure and temperature behavior of metallo-supramolecular assemblies

Article Abstract:

A detailed structural analysis of a Langmuir-Blodgent (LB) multilayer composed of a polyelectrolyte-amphiphile complex (PAC) is presented. The PAC is self-assembled from metal ions, ditopic bis-terpyridines, and amphilhile and X-ray reflectometry is used to investigate the vertical structure of the LB multilayer.
